Selector Myles
From an early childhood growing up in Belmont which was full of culture and vibrancy and being around his uncle’s mas camp and his fathers vast collection of music records Myles Grant a.k.a. Selector Myles began to express his love for music.
As time passed Myles got involved in promotions and cultural events, which always kept him involved and close to one of the loves of his life and his life’s passion MUSIC….
After graduating from Belmont Boy’s Secondary he along with a couple friends from school Kier Carmino and Christian Modeste began showing their interest in music and formed a group from which they did friends parties and christening among other events. After that Myles got the opportunity to pursue his passion further by linking up with Michael Christopher, Leroy “John Gotti” Thomas and Jeremy “Jerry Wonder” Francis of CopperShot Disco T&T who provided guidance and introduced him more to the world of juggling and playing in the party circuit.
From there he was re-introduced to Johann Seaton from the group “Sel Construction”. Myles had known Johann for a number of years prior to being re-introduced but was always in the light of promotional events. Now he was being introduced as a DJ. After a while Johann approached Myles to join the group after one of the groups members Diamond D was about to leave, which gave Myles the opportunity to further his craft. That however, was short lived and Myles took a 3-year leave of absence to pursue his studies in Graphic and Web Design while working for Home Construction Limited (HCL).
In 2005 after the launch of Red 96.7 FM Myles approached Johann to do an advertisement for HCL’s Junior Aerobics Marathon for which he was in charge of at HCL. At that point Johann once again invited Myles to re-join the group for which he accepted. Now he was given the opportunity to work on air on “Sel Construction” shifts as well as play at various events with the group.
After a while Red did some re-structuring and Myles was given his own shifts to work with Ishmael over-night on Thursdays, over-night with Maiks on Fridays and Sunday mornings with Rene J Grant, which allowed him to fine-tune his skills. Myles then was given another shift with Maiks on a Sunday evening from 9 – 12 midnight “The Double M Experience” which became one of the best Sunday evening programs.
Over a period of time Myles skills as not only a DJ but as a person who was dedicated and a hard worker was recognized by management and they began asking him to hold on for popular DJ’s when they could not come out or were on vacation. Myles worked very hard; working every shift that management gave him in addiction to his own which led to his colleagues giving him the nickname “Replacement Killer”.
From his stint as the “replacement killer” the company re-structured again as Citadel was launched a new station Hitz 107.1 FM and DJ’s were being asked to join that station. Myles was then given the opportunity to work alongside JW & Blaze on the popular Red Hot Morning Show. Where he is now evolving into a radio personality/presenter and owes all his success to God, hard work and skills of course.
